Bumper Video Series

Overview

Despite the need for digital teaching during COVID-19 and the need for a digital teaching lab in Max Planck School of Photonics is increasing. However, the teaching staff is still not so clear about the services from our side. To make sure everyone is on the same page within a short period, we decided to shoot a series of bumper videos to present what we can do.

Conception development

I came up with the idea to shoot a three minutes scenario-based video in the first place. However, when I saw the audience’s behaviors on previous YouTube/ Panopto videos, they do not really watch through the whole video clip but jumped to certain timing points to see what they wanted. Therefore, after two weeks of brainstorming, I had just decided not to shoot a long video instead, a series of short videos which can present our different services in different video clips. In this case, we call them bumper videos.

Shooting and Design

Once I had a clear concept about the actors, topics, screen plots, emotions, narrations and shooting angles, I started to arrange the equipment I needed in our shooting studio to switch the lights and the green screen.
You can watch the following videos as some of the examples.

Results and Giveaways

The final series of bumper videos were given away via newsletters to our teaching staff and the bumper video which invites our teaching staff to approach is being displayed on our website and YouTube channel.
